Musical Theatre Performance Camp
(1-week Show Camps)
Students rehearse and perform the selected musical show – learning the songs, staging, choreography and present a fully produced/costumed performance to family and friends in the Conservatory Theatre on their final day. Camp classes are grouped appropriately by age to help ensure active participation, confidence building and skill learning so that each child will have an enjoyable performance experience.

Middle School – Junior Company
Be an actor in The Summer Theatre of New Canaan’s Junior Company! We’ve created this musical performance summer program just for middle school students entering grades 5-9. For three weeks in the afternoons Monday – Friday July 13-31Junior Company cast will work with professional actors, director, choreographer, designers and crew from our company who will instruct, rehearse and help them put on their show on the Summer Theatre’s main stage in New Canaan.*
All students who wish to participate must first register online with the Summer Theatre of New Canaan and, if possible, attend the audition on April 18 from 3:30 – 5pm at the Conservatory stages. The program is limited to the first 30 students who register. All students who register will be accepted into the company and cast in the show. Auditions will also be held the first day of rehearsals for placement in the show. Public performance of The “Wizard of Oz” will be at 4pm on the main stage of the Summer Theatre.
*NOTE: The program will follow CT state guidelines and will be conducted in person or remotely if social distancing is in effect. Special attention has been given to online curriculum making sure that students are in an active learning environment. Zoom has the ability to provide group learning and breakout rooms where students work in pairs or small groups allowing instructors to provide individualized attention.

High School Theatre Intensive
The Summer Theatre of New Canaan offers a diverse professional quality theatre intensive program for high school students entering grades 10-12. The program is a 2-week immersion in a variety of theatre styles and techniques taught by Broadway and Professional artists. The High School Theatre Intensive gives students a new understanding of ensemble building and personal discovery, as well as the tools necessary to be both strong actors and informed theatre artists. Each day is split into core training and workshops/ master classes.
